FX Licence Check Kenya: terms of use

Short terms, in plain words: information, not advice - and how the money works.

This is information, not advice

Everything on FX Licence Check Kenya is general information about how forex trading and broker licensing work in Kenya. It is not financial advice, not a recommendation and not an offer. We do not know your income, your obligations or your tolerance for loss, and nothing here is adjusted to them.

Giving investment advice in Kenya is a regulated activity. We are not licensed for it and do not carry it on. If you want advice, take it from someone the CMA authorises to give it.

How this site is paid for

Some outbound links to brokers are partner links: if you open an account through one, we may be paid by the broker. You pay nothing extra, and the payment changes nothing on this site. The register extract is copied from the regulator, and no firm can pay to appear in it, to be removed from it or to have its status described differently.

Every partner link is marked as sponsored in the markup and sits behind a label that says where it goes. We do not sell editorial placement, and we do not rank brokers.

Accuracy, and its limits

Registers change daily, brokers change their terms, and a page is a snapshot of the day it was written. We date what we publish and say where it came from so you can check it at the source, which is the only version that is current.

We do not warrant that the site is complete, error-free or uninterrupted. Where a figure matters to a decision about money, check it against the CMA register or the broker's own documents before you act on it.

Trading risk

Leveraged forex and CFD trading can lose you more than a small share of your deposit, quickly. Most retail accounts lose money. A licence means a firm is supervised; it does not mean your money is safe from trading losses, and no page on this site should be read as suggesting otherwise.

Supervision and solvency are different questions from whether a position goes against you. A CMA licence speaks to how a firm must hold client money, report and handle complaints; it says nothing about the market. The arithmetic below is the part that decides how long a position survives, and it is the same at every broker: leverage sets the margin, and the margin sets how small a move takes it.

What a 1% move against you costs, by leverage
LeverageMargin the position needsCost of a 1% adverse move
No leverage (1:1)100% of the position1% of your margin
1:1010% of the position10% of your margin
1:303.33% of the position30% of your margin
1:1001% of the position100% of your margin
1:5000.2% of the position500% of your margin

The market does not have to be wrong about you for long. Whether your balance can fall below zero depends on the firm's margin close-out and negative balance terms and on the rules it trades under — read those before you fund an account.

Other people's sites

We link to regulators, exchanges, central banks and brokers. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for what they publish, and a link is not an endorsement - least of all when we link to a warning about a firm.

The links that matter most here are the ones to the CMA register and to a broker's own terms, because those are the documents that decide the question, and ours is only a reading of them. Where this site and the source disagree, the source is right and we want to hear about it.

What a link from here means

Regulators, central banks and exchanges
Cited as the source of a figure — never an endorsement
A warning notice about a firm
Linked because it exists, not because we agree or disagree
A broker
Partner link, marked sponsored, through this domain's own redirect
Anything else we link
We do not control it and are not responsible for what it publishes

A link is a pointer to a source, and the source is the version that is current.

Using what is here

Read it, print it, quote it with a link back. Do not republish whole pages as your own, and do not scrape the site to rebuild it elsewhere. The register extracts come from public records and belong to nobody; the writing around them is ours.

Questions about reuse, and anything else about these terms: [email protected].

How a correction travels
StepWhat happensWhen
1 · You writeThe page address and what the correct value isAny time
2 · We check itAgainst the public source you name, not against our own pageSame week
3 · The page changesThe figure is replaced and the page says it was correctedWith the date on it

A number is never quietly edited to leave the page looking as though it always said that.
